Membership is available to anyone who resides or works in Cass, Logan, Macoupin, Menard, Montgomery, Morgan or Sangamon counties, any employee of the United States Government, employees of the Southern Illinois Airport Authority, any member of the Gospel Kingdom Church and any member of any Laborers’ local belonging to any District Council, which is part of the Midwest Region, LIUNA, any employee and immediate family members of employees of the Memorial Health System and its controlled affiliates, including: Memorial Health System, Memorial Medical Center, Memorial Medical Center Foundation, Memorial Child Care, Home Health Ventures, Memorial Home Services, HealthCare Network Associates, Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital Foundation, Lincoln Health Services, Taylorville Memorial Hospital & Foundation, Mental Health Centers of Central Illinois and SIU School of Medicine.

Notice to Members for Customer Identification Under USA Patriot Act
"In order to prevent the use of the U.S. financial system in terrorist and other illegal activity, federal regulations require all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record identification from all persons opening new accounts or being added as signatories to existing accounts. This institution cannot wave this requirement."

In order to comply with the USA Patriot Act, Heartland Credit Union is required to verify the identity of the members applying for and opening new accounts/services or adding signatories to existing accounts/services with the credit union. Information that we are required to obtain includes:
- Name
- Mailing Address
- Residence Address (if different)
- Social Security Number or Tax Identification Number
- Date of Birth
- Copy of a government issued photo ID (such as a driver’s license, passport, Student ID, State issued ID, etc.) If you are applying on-line, we will need the peson applying to present government issued photo ID in order for opening procedures to be completed.
Additional data or identification, as required under the USA Patriot Act, may also be gathered depending on the type of account applied for or opened. Data on existing members will be gathered as they open or use additional services offered by the credit union or add signatories on accounts. The USA Patriot Act requires the credit union to maintain records of the identification verification and to update the information. Confidentiality of this information will be maintained as required under the Privacy Act and all other applicable laws and regulations.
