Scholarship Opportunities
At Heartland Credit Union we value the importance of a quality education.
As an added benefit, we are proud to announce there will be two different scholarship categories available in 2012.
The Alice Newquist Memorial Scholarship
The Alice Newquist Memorial Scholarship will award four one-time $500.00 scholarships. The recipients will be chosen based on the following criterion.
Who is eligible?
Applicants must meet all of the following criterion:
- Be a member of Heartland Credit Union’s Teen Club (members ages 13-17 are enrolled as club members).
- Currently enrolled or planning to attend a parochial high school. The student must maintain both conduct and academic standards of the school.
How do I apply?
You, the student, are responsible for gathering and submitting all required information. Each applicant must complete the following:
- Complete an application. Online applications are available on www.hcu.org or paper applications are available at all locations.
- Submit a video or essay (150 words) on one of the following topics:
- Why do you feel it is important to be a member of a Credit Union?
- How are you preparing for the rising costs of a college education?

The HCU Grad Scholarship
The Heartland Credit Union Grad Scholarship will award two $1,000.00 scholarships for the 2012-2013 academic year. The recipients will be chosen based on the following criterion.
Who is eligible?
Applicants must meet all of the following criterion:
- Be a member of Heartland Credit Union’s Grad Club (members ages 18-25 are enrolled as club members).
- Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire 2012-2013 academic year.
How do I apply?
You, the student, are responsible for gathering and submitting all required information. Each applicant must complete the following:
- Complete an application. Online applications are available on www.hcu.org or paper applications are available at all locations.
- Submit a video or essay (250 words) on one of the following topics:
- Why do you feel it is important to be a member of a Credit Union?
- What forms or technology do we offer that best serve our members? How can we better serve you through technology?
